Custom balance

Question

Hi,

I’m looking to replace a broken channel balance system from a tilt-in sash window. Here’s the info from the existing part:

Stamped code: 28C HQ5 CMC 34

Metal channel length: 28”

Top attachment: Hook

Pivot shoe width: 1-1/4” (damaged, but measured across the widest part)

Window type: Tilt-in

Balance type (suspected but not certain): Caldwell Series 795

The pivot shoe is broken and the balance failed suddenly, so I’d like to replace the entire assembly and want to make sure I’m ordering the correct part.

Do you carry this exact balance and shoe? If so, I’d prefer to order with your help rather than buy online blind. I’ve attached photos of the existing parts for reference.

Thanks for your patience during this busy season. The Series 795 will not replace your original balance, but I believe that our Series 770 will. This installs at the top of the track by putting a screw through the channel itself, and then a terminal clip extends from the bottom to engage with a pivot shoe. Look it over and see what you think.

We sell a ton of different pivot shoes that can possibly replace your original, but the Series 770 is compatible with too many to make a recommendation based on a photo alone. I'll need you to measure the width and thickness of the original and then write out the results in your response. I can then check our stock for a match. Thanks!
