I ordered 4 pair of 28F balance rods. The old rods had ""28F" stamped on them just like the new rods but they don't look the same. Could I have ordered the wrong part from you guys?
It also seems they are not the same length even though they are both 28F.
If these are indeed the same part for a non-tilt window, can you point me to a easy to understand installation video?

Thank you for contacting us! Unfortunately, the stamps on the back of channel balances is not a part number but indicate the amount of spring tension needed to support your sash. We use the top and bottom attachments to identify the correct replacement balance and, with this combination of attachments, you could have either an S380-29 or S385-29 channel balance. You need to measure as shown below. The Series 380 has a 1" bottom attachment, and the Series 385 has a 1-3/32" attachment. You'll also need 2860 spring strength options based on the 28F stamp on your existing balances.

Hey there. We just received your samples and are confident that we have ID'd the right replacement. Going by the style and size of the nylon fittings, we determined that you want the S380-29 channel balance. This has a 19-005 top and 15-005 bottom.
Your balances are also stamped with 28F and 28D. The company that made your balances has been out of business for some time now. Balances in this style aren't made with this kind of stamp anymore. For 28F, I recommend the 2860 stamp option for sashes weighing 32 through 35 pounds. For 28D, I recommend the 2840 option for 23 through 28 pounds. I highly recommend weighing your sashes on a scale to confirm that they fall into these weight ratings; these recommended stamp options are an educated guess. There's no way to tell from a sample what the calibration of the spring is.
