Hello! Thanks for contacting us. Hopefully I can help you with this project.

What you have here is a very old rod-style balance. These have been obsolete for many years now and are no longer manufactured.

The good news is that there are modern-style balances that work in the same way; sometimes with no alteration, though very often they require a bit of handiwork to install. The trouble here is that there are multiple kinds of rod-style balances, and therefore multiple modern balances that could be considered for replacement.

To that end, I need more information about the original balance before I can make a recommendation. I'd like to start with a clear photo of an undamaged version of this balance. These are next to impossible to ID while damaged so this is an essential step. I have to stress that without an undamaged version, we can't help you.

I specifically need a clear picture of the top end, bottom end, the clip at the end of the cord, and the pivot shoe it connects to at the bottom.

Hopefully with that information we can find you a good alternative for this old, obsolete hardware.

Thanks for reaching out to us. These photos are a huge help. The modern replacement for this balance is our Series 795. This has a similar T-shaped shoe at the bottom and installs in a similar fashion, but the trouble is that the process isn't exactly the same. You will need to make some mild alterations to get our modern hardware to work in your window.

The good news is that we have a detailed video that shows you exactly how this can be done, step by step. I recommend watching it before you do anything else. This will allow you to determine exactly which Series 795 balance will work in your window and how you can install it.

It's tough to say from these photos but the 26-243 and 26-244 come to mind. I recommend you compare the specifications with an undamaged version of your old latch to confirm.
