Does the 82-260 fit the imperial 7800877?

Home Owner from USA
Hi,

I am trying to see if the 82-260 fit the imperial 7800877. I will buy its matching female part.

The dimensions seem to be the same:

12" screw to screw in height

1.5" deep

But the place where the lock is engaged seems to be on the upper half of the lock rather than on the bottom half of it as per the photo.

Can the 82-260 lock be installed in either position top side up or bottom side up?

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for writing in! The 82-260 does appear to be the right replacement for your internal mortise lock. Ours is made with two slots for the key cylinder spindle, whereas yours only has the one. It does have a few other notable differences as well. However, you should be able to flip our mortise lock to be compatible with your door since it does have the two slots.

Take a look over the dimensions and design from the diagrams below. Carefully compare them to your existing mortise lock to confirm that this will be the right fit.

Your handle set reminds me of our 82-086 which has an offset latch. Again take a look over the dimensions to determine if this might work as a replacement. This handle set is available in black. (The non-keyed version is part 82-089.)
