Does the code after GM/HW CMC makes a difference when ordering window balances?

Quick Learner from San Jose, CA
Hi,
I want to replace the balances of two of my windows.
Both are marked 26-5, so I plan to get a four S395-27.
The stamp/code for the first window is 26 5 GM CMC 11
and the second window code: 26 5 HW CMC 7

Both are 0.5 inches wide.
Should I get the same channel balances for both windows or does the code after the GM/HW CMC make a difference?
These are non-tilt windows.

Thanks

Thanks for posting. No, typically the codes after the numbers on a balance stamp are irrelevant, and just old manufacturing information. A stamp of 26-5 translates to 2650 for our replacement balances. However, you do not have an S395-27--the Series 395 has a bottom nylon attachment, or shoe, that lacks 'wings' or side tabs; your shoe has them. If the top fitting looks like the 19-005, then I think you have either an S380-27 or S385-27 Channel Balance. The only difference between these two balances is the depth of the bottom nylon shoe, or the 'heel-to-toe' measurement. See the diagram below for reference. Compare both balances with your old hardware to see what matches best. For a stamp option choose 2650.
