Double hung window is falling down on one side - need to replace balance

I think I need what may be called a coil balance. Based on the attached photo, there appears to be a coil broken which doesn't exist when I examine a working window. I'm not sure the proper way to identify the correct balance I may need... appreciate any assistance.
