Follow up ...re mortise...pictures enclosed

I spoke with you a couple of weeks ago about my order for the 82-218 mortise on my patio door. I am enclosing two pictures that, I think, show what the problem is.

Basically, the mortise seems to be working correctly but the latch lever does not have enough room to go down. When held straight up and down the slot that the latch lever fits into is oriented from 11 o'clock to 4 o'clock and that puts the lever too close to the bottom of the handle to go down far enough for the hook to go out and stay out.

The lever that we have has a twisted blade on it that goes into the slot on the mortise. Is there a mortise with the slot oriented 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock? I think that would work.

Sorry for the delay I getting back to you. I'll return the mortise since it identical to the one that is in there now.

This type of mortise lock is manufactured with a 45 degree key way, like on the 82-218, or a vertical key way. There are no other types of key ways that I know of. Could it be you need to replace the thumb lever? Our 82-106 would be a match. I wonder if yours being twisted is the problem. See what you think.

This happens when the keeper conflicts with the hook for any number of reasons. People keep pushing when things aren't lined up correctly and the tab twists.
You may be able to twist it back. Don't put pressure on the lever, only on the shaft.
