Having trouble fixing single hung tilt windows

Quick Learner from Florida
Hello,

Two of my single hung tilt windows will not open. Both of the channel balances are stuck at the top of the window. I have tried to push them down with no luck. The stamp on the channel balance says '34E BSI'. I found the '34" Series 795 Channel Balance' on your website which looks similar, however it is not ribbed unlike the ones currently installed in my window. I am not sure if that is important or not. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for reaching out! Yes, you are correct. Your balance is similar to our Series 795 channel balance but it is most likely our Series 752 channel balance with a 15-230 T-Lock Shoe installed to the bottom. This will need to be a custom balance assembly.

With that said, there is one more thing I'll need to confirm the exact balance to recommend. I'll need to know if there is a hook or a clip at the top of the balance. You will need to remove your balance from the window to confirm this.

To detach the balance from the window and be able to push it down in the channel, you'll need to remove the cover at the top of the window. Then you'll be able to detach the balance from the window channel.

Take a look at the video below, starting at the 3 minute and 13 second timestamp. We give instructions on how to remove the Series 795 and it may be useful since this is a similar balance.
