Help Identifying and Replacing Window Parts

Hello, I’m hoping you can help us identify and order the correct replacement parts for several of our windows. We have about five windows where the blue shoe brackets have snapped. The part number on the blue component appears to be 5.704.165.

Each side of the affected windows seems to have three coil springs, all marked with the number 8. I’m unsure if the springs themselves need replacing or if it’s just the shoe brackets, but some of the windows have become extremely hard to open and close—even before the brackets broke—while others are still difficult to operate even though all parts appear intact.

These are heavy, hurricane-grade insulated glass windows. Unfortunately, the original stickers with the window model information have faded and are no longer legible.

Any guidance you could offer in identifying the correct parts and advice on what to replace would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time and support!

Hi there!

We don't sell a direct match for this pivot shoe. However, take a look at the 15-177. This is 9/16" thick and 1-1/4" wide. We recommend you measure your old part to see if this matches up.

You won't be able to use the old springs, so you'll need the Series 152. These springs screw to the side of the shoe with the 33-072 (sold separately). The compatible coil supports are the 15-143 bushing, 15-144 cap, and 15-145 barrel. These parts "sandwich" around each coil spring.

Usually, you would refer to the stamps on the old springs to determine the coil weights. However, since you said some of the windows are hard to operate even with intact parts, we recommend weighing the window sashes on a scale. You'll then want to divide the sash weight by the total number of springs in the window. You're also welcome to get back to us with the sash weights, and we can calculate what you need from there.
