Help repairing handle

Quick Learner from Missouri
This handle needs replacing I think a broke piece of the latch may still be inside. I noticed while taking the photo that they put this on upside down. What do I do to replace this correctly? Or will I need to just put it back the way they installed it? It's a left hand open.

Hello,

I would recommend starting by comparing the 3-15/16" hole spacing of the 82-030 handle set to yours. This is a versatile replacement with an adjustable thumb latch. We'll include the images from our product page below. If the mortise lock inside the door needs to be replaced as well, we'll need to see yours with the door open. Thank you.

I'm still unsure the handles on each side are installed how they should be? the inner one upside down compared to its brand marking.

It looks like the installer flipped the entire handle so that the upward offset of the thumb latch would match the mortise lock. This isn't necessarily a problem but one benefit of the 82-030 is that it uses an adjustable thumb latch that can be mounted on the top, middle, or bottom of the handle plate. That way you won't have to worry about flipping the base to align with the mortise lock.

Does it look like the mortise inside also needs to be replaced? And does that need to be ordered separately?
Also, I measured and included a photo of the measurements in mine. but I'm unsure it lines up with the 3 15/16"?

Thanks for your help

Unfortunately, we are not able to make out exact dimensions from photos but I agree with Casey that the 82-030 looks like a good replacement option as long as the hole spacing matches. I can tell you that 3-15/16" is a common size for these types of patio door handles.

You could also test the internal mortise lock using a slotted screwdriver in the space where the thumb latch would install. If you rotate it and the locking hooks do next extend properly, see the 82-265. We'll include the dimensions of this part below as well to confirm it's a match. Unforutnately, the handle sets and mortise locks are not available as a set since different combinations of handles and lock assemblies are used by various door manufacturers.
