How do these connect with the bar?

A quick learner from Luverne says:
I have the 38-144 lock and then the secondary one on top. How do these work without the little pin that goes into the bar that connects them? Do I just have to replace both locks with one of these, so they work independently, and not use the bar? Thanks!

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:
The 38-144 is meant to work in conjunction with the 38-160. You should have a type of tie bar which connects the two locks, as you mentioned. If the pin is missing you might be able to locate a substitute at a local hardware store.
A friend says:
So you don't have the pin available as a part?

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:
No, we do not.
A quick learner says:
Truth no longer makes them with the pin. You have to just get 2 of the locks and replace the bottom AND the top so that the bar is no longer necessary.
