channel balance with no clips
(12 year old house with vinyle windows)
Thanks for any help you can render.
If you need a quick solution, you could actually install a screw in the jamb near where the take out clip once installed. If you allow the screw to stick out a bit, as the take out clip would, it will actually function in the same capacity. Then, once your balances are replaced and the project is done, you'd just take the screws out of the window.
This is a different style balance entirely. This type of unit doesn't use take out clips, but rather is removed by taking the jamb liner out of the window frame and sliding it out from the end.
I think we can help with this, but I need to see an undamaged version of your balance; specifically the shoe. I also need to know what the stamp printed on the metal channel, the length of the metal channel, and how many in total you wanted to buy.
To clarify, the shoe is what we need to see. That's the broken nylon piece at the end of the cord. It's not really possible to identify those when they're this damaged, so seeing one in undamaged condition is necessary at this stage. Too many important details concerning the shoe are either missing or obscured.
Yes, that's the shoe. As mentioned beforehand, we need to see that removed and in undamaged condition. Based on what I can see, I don't believe this is a shoe style that we can supply.
I believe you'll need the S751-25 ribbed balance with the 15-197 locking terminal attached, which we can supply through a custom order. The spring weight will be (24R) for a sash weight between 10-18 lbs. The balance is attached at the top of the vinyl window jamb with either the 19-029 or 19-030 S-Clip. If the specifications look good to you, we'll just need to confirm the number of balances you need with the minimum being two.
