We have Patriot single-hung tilt-in windows. The window has a balance on each side; each balance is attached via a thin cord to a screw up near the very top. The problem is that we have several windows where the balance has disconnected from the window on one side. How can we go about reattaching it, and do we need to replace the balance? Thanks for any help you can offer.
The pictures below show the balance on the right side, which has detached from the window, and the left side which still has the balance attached to the window. In that picture you can see the thin cord.
How to reattach balance to Patriot window?

I have found the problem. The top is broken off the balance shoe. I have attached a picture of it (note the broken top). The channel is about 1-1/4" wide; do you think your 15-195 shoe will work as a replacement?
Also, how do you remove the old shoe from the channel? Thanks for your help!

Thanks for posting! Our 15-195 is similar, yes, but you won't be able to attach it to your balance. You see, your balance has an indentation on the bottom of the metal channel, as I can see based on your shoe. The 15-195 cannot accommodate this indentation. In fact, your balance is no longer made. You will have to replace the whole thing. I recommend our Series 795 balance, which uses the 15-195 shoe.
