Hurd casement window parts

I have two Hurd Casement windows and both crank assemblies are stripped. The window frames are wood. I am attempting to remove the crank mechanism from the frame. I've been using an offset screw driver and have successfully removed two screws from the front of the opening but I am not able to access the two screws behind them because I can't get the offset screw driver inside position. Do yo have any advice?

It's very possible that you need to pry off the wood sill trim in order to access the screws. The sill trim is made wide on a lot of different wood windows, so it's not possible to get to the screws without removing it first.

Thank you Tom. That's a distinct possibility. Have you tried doing that? I will explore doing that . I even had the idea of drilling holes into the wood frame the exact size of the screw heads, unscrew the mechanism that way, then later fill the hole in with a piece of dowel or wood filler.

Sure, it's fairly common on wood windows. You can se how we do it on a similar window that uses Truth brand parts.

Hi Tom, I was able to remove the crank mechanisms from my Hurd windows. Thank you. What do I need to do to order new cranks?

I've removed the two inoperative crank mechanisms from the two windows. They are numbered 7701 & 7702. What do I need to do to order new parts?

I'm not sure what you have, but I'd be happy to look into it for you. The best place to start is with photos of the complete operator assembly without obstruction. I can then check our inventory for a match.
