Identifying broken spiral balances and pivot lock shoes

Home Owner from Greensboro, North Carolina
Hello, I'm hoping you can help me out. I have a very similar problem to this person's post (https://www.swisco.com/discussions/need-spiral-balance-for-MW-windows-77-6443?srsltid=AfmBOoqr12M-Wj1Q07s4_Km8smoHes88Lp0DAxlSANiFa0KmV1dmfwJq) where the window sashes don't operate or stay up. I have two of these windows with this problem, same brand as in the original post (MW Windows), and in removing their window sashes I can see that not only the spiral balances are broken but also the pivot lock shoes are severely degraded (fingers crossed I named that part correctly).
I'm hoping you can help me appropriately identify the part pieces needed, mainly the pivot lock shoes, so I can replace them and the spiral balances. A little bit of information - the windows in question are vinyl double hung MW windows. The spiral balances are 26" long (tube measurement) at 3/8" diameter. The tip on them is white when I extend the spiral out. Please let me know what other information you need on the pivot lock shoes and I'll be happy to provide it. Thank you!

Hello,

Your original pivot shoe was discontinued, but we often suggest the 15-118 as a replacement. The determining factor would be how the width and thickness measurements compare to your shoe.

As for the balances, we offer the (3/8") S900-26, but make sure to confirm you are measuring an intact piece of the plastic cover, not the internal metal component. If the outer tube measures 5/8" in diameter, see the S600-26. There is a chart on the product page that explains how to choose your option based on the weight of the sash the balances support. Thank you!

Thank you Casey for your help! I went ahead and ordered that pivot shoe along with the S900 series spiral balances. They were everything that I needed, and I now have two 27-year old windows that work again! Saved me from having to replace both of them. For any future readers, be sure to measure the spiral balance lengths for both the top AND bottom window sashes. I wrongly assumed they would be the same length and had to quickly cancel an order before it could ship out (thank you James for your help on that front). Once the order arrived, the install of the spiral balances and pivot shoes went as smoothly as I could expect for a first time replacement on my own.
Thanks again!
