Product Description

This is a Series 600 balance, considered the most popular spiral tilt balance in the industry and used in aluminum and vinyl tilt-in windows. The spiral balance moderates the operation of your window sash to allow the window to stay open when raised.

This balance has a 26" long metal tube. When determining the length only measure the metal tube.
The strength you need should be indicated as a color tip at the end of your old metal tube. If you do not see a color tip weigh your sash on a scale and refer to the chart below.
The metal tube measures 9/16" in diameter, but it is considered 5/8" in the trade, and houses an internal spiral rod with double pins.
Can work for either the left or right side of the window interchangeably.
Spiral window balances come fully lubricated and ready to be charged.

blue tip	12 to 31 lbs
black tip	31 to 40 lbs

*This information is based on 2 balances per sash. Balances are designed assuming friction in the jamb weather-strip will carry a portion of the sash weight. Suggested sash weights are approximate.

Good Idea!

For best results, replace window balances in pairs (though sold individually). An old balance will overwork a new one, causing faster wear and uneven operation. Paired replacement ensures optimal, lasting performance.

I'm not sure of the correct size of this and I'm not sure how to get it out of the window. I took the valance out of each window but it looks like the shoes need to be replaced as well. I'm thinking this is a 26-in valance with a blue tip

Client of mine has need for replacement spiral balances

total of six single hung tilt windows. Tube length is 26", with a diameter of 3/8"-ish (appears a touch wider, but I know that is the standard). Double hung window springs

I'm replacing 40+ year old double hung window springs. The old spring tubes are about 25 1/2 inches long and the tips are blue. I'll need to order about 14 springs, but at this point I'd only like to order two to make sure I get the right product.Thanks for your help.Geoff
