Identity of coil balance/pivot shoe replacements

A handy person from Lancaster, KY says:
Good morning!

Only the bottom half of the window raises/lowers and tilts (single-hung?). The bottom half is 30 inches in length, and weighs 18 lbs. It looks like it uses a double coil balance on both sides, but the coil is narrower than a half inch, but the shoe is wider than the coil. There is a notch at the top of the window channel to slip the mechanism in and out of the channel. I could find no marks on the coil or the coil holder. Also no markings to determine the window brand.

Thank you! Winston

Hi Winston. This Pivot Shoe resembles our 15-177, which uses our Series 152 Coil Springs. If your old springs are undamaged you don't need to replace them, but if you do, and if the window sash weighs exactly 18 lbs, then you can just use (2) of the S152-9 9 lb Coil Springs, one for each side of the window sash. Note this will be one less spring on each side of the sash than you currently have, which is totally fine--with coil balance systems, you just need to match the weight that has to be supported. It will also be a lot easier to reinstall. Let me know if you have any other questions.
