I am installing an inswing storm door. I have purchased the
40-006 bracket. where does this need to be mounted? From your picture it looks like it is on the door, this won't work. Can you explain.

This worked very well for me on two pine screen doors. I also purchased in-swing door passage set.
I recommend using s hydraulic door closer because you get less bounce on the final closing shut and this makes latching more reliable. The pneumatic closer which I tried first, it was not possible to get a nice slow final bit of closing to avoid occasional failure to latch, which leads to problem of indoor cat escape.
The previous method of closing the doors was three spring hinges and a different kind of latch and closing was much louder and latching much less reliable.
