Kohler window part needed

Quick Learner from Colchester, CT
Hello,

Have kohler windows in our home from 2000. The mechanism that balances the window and assists them in moving up needs to be replaced.

The numbers from the stickers on the window are: TR 338 and 851943001

Site would not allow me to upload photos.

Sorry that our website couldn't accept your photos. Can you email them to us at help@swisco.com? Please be sure to include your discussion ID number, D172951, so we know what discussion to reference. Keep in mind it sounds like you need new window balances, so the best way to get started would be to show them to us out of the window. Many thanks.

D172951 Hello,

Please see photos. Looking for new window balances for (2) windows, both sides need replaced.

We also need two of the pieces that allow the bottom window to tilt out, see photo below.

Lastly, do you sell lower window replacements from a double hung window of the same type?

Thank you!!

Thanks for the photos. These old rod balances aren't made anymore, but they can be replaced with one of our plain tilt window channel balances. To know which, we need to see whatever attachment, shoe, or fitting is at the bottom of this balance. For your tilt latches, see our 26-243 and 26-244 to start; see if these matches what you need.

Thanks for the info!

Below shows the shoes/attachment point for the balances.

Also, I need an upper replacement window for the window sticker shown, do you have these as well?

thanks for the help!

I am afraid I don't see the shoe that these pivot bars attach to. That shoe, connected to the bottom of the balance, is what determines the right replacement. That said, based on the shape of the pivot bar, you might have our old crossbow balance, which can be seen in the video below. Compare with an undamaged version of your balance to absolutely confirm this. If that's the case, you can replace it with our Series 795 Channel Balance. The video below goes into more detail.

I am also afraid we don't replace entire window sashes, just the particular hardware that enables their operation. A local hardware store may be able to set you up with a replacement. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Sorry, hopefully these pics make it more clear... Overall length is 24" from shoe to end plastic piece..

Perfect! Yes, this is definitely a crossbow balance that can be replaced by the Series 795. It sounds like you might need an S795-24, but the video above goes into more detail as well as all accessories needed. Let me know if you have any other questions.
