Latch and turning closer

A quick learner says:

The latch doesn't fully close. You can push it closed but it pops open again.

The other window has to be pushed closed from the outside and since it's on the 2nd floor and separated from another window ( that opens) by a window that's fixed, so it's a bit dangerous trying to close it.

We are moving in August and need to make these repairs soon. I spoke with someone who suggested if you have the parts your company may be able to walk a handyman through the repair.

Please respond, thank you, Jacklyn

Hello, Jacklyn. It sounds like you might need new operators. When the gear strips out on the crank operator then it will fail to close the window all the way; the gear teeth aren't catching so the sash won't move. The fact that you can still push the window closed by hand tells me that it closes and locks just fine.

With that in mind, can you remove one of the operators from the window and show me a picture of the complete mechanism? That will allow me to find a good match for it in our inventory. I'm very confident that we have something for you so once I see it I can work from there.

A home owner from West Orange, New Jersey says:

Here are the pictures. If you had told me that you couldn't accept a video, we could have solved this problem long ago. Please advise. Thank you, Jacklyn

Hello again! I would have happily told you that if I knew that's what you were trying to do, but I'm sorry for the inconvenience all the same.

I still can't see your entire operator, since part of the arm isn't in-frame, but I would start by looking at our 39-027E to start out. I believe yours is just an older version of this part, but you should review our photos and dimensions anyway just to be sure.

Take note of the design of the wheel at the end of the arms, especially. That's the major detail I can't see in your photos and while it may seem small it is fairly important. If your wheel looks different then I'll have to see it so that I can pick out something better for you.

We also sell the 39-028E for the opposite side, if you needed that, and the 39-114L handle.

Here are the photos you requested. The round thing measures give or take 5/8" . Thank you,

Perfect, that tells me everything. I feel very confident now that the recommended operator will work. The wheel is a slightly different diameter but it should still be okay.
