Minimum jam channel width for jam spreader 75-069 to work

I need to replace a friction shoe using SWISCO product code 15-104. The vinyl jam channel where the shoe is housed is 1/4 inch wide, which I need to spread open. Will the 75-069 jamb spreader fit into a 1/4 inch jam channel so I can avoid cutting a notch into the vinyl jam?

You won't be able to use the 75-069 jamb spreader to install a 15-104 friction shoe. You will need to remove the sashes and then the jamb liners from the window frame. The jamb liners are held in place by the sash pressing on them. You would slide out the spring with the broken friction shoe and reverse the process to install the new friction shoe.
