Mortise lock help.

I purchased and returned mortise lock 82-259. It is not exactly a replacement for our original lock. Can you suggest a better replacement. I have attached photos of the new and old lock.

While the 82-259 is not exactly the same as your old mortise lock, it should still work. Yours is just an older style of the more modern 82-259. There really isn't any functional difference between them. What problem were you running into during installation?

No problem with the installation. After the installation was completed, the lock while in the locked position and the door closed you could pull the door open. You could hear a metal click and a brief slight resistance and the door then opened.

As can be seen from the first photo and from the photo measurements depicting the distance between the two classpers the older model is different than the new one shipped this last month. Can you find a replacement that matches my old lock. The difference between the old classpers was 6". The new one measuring the same distance between the classpers is 6 1/4.

Maybe you can locate an old lock in your inventory some place and offer it to me.

Are you reusing your old keeper? The 82-259 comes with one, which we recommend using instead of the hardware installed on your door originally. We do not have a replacement for your old mortise lock.
