Mortise lock is jamming

Question

Existing patio door (7 years old) has dual point mortise lock and is jamming -- can't get the door open sometimes. Your replacement looks like the same lock. Since it is a double lock, I can't get the door open be lifting out of track.... Is there any way to force the lock open if it freezes? Before I order, is there any way to be sure your 82-265 will match? Outer dimensions match (11,11 3/4 and 3/4 width), and the picture looks identical to mine..... Are these locks standard for all makes of doors? Lindsay Windows Illinois installed the door.

If the lock itself is broken in the locked position, unforutnately, there is no easy way to disengage it. You could try removing the inside handle and engaging the mortise with a slotted screwdriver to unlock it. If that doesn't work, you may need to have a local locksmith evaluate the door to determine the best way to remove the original lock.

As for confirming the correct replacement, you would need to confirm that the specifications below match your assembly once it is removed from the door since there is no standard hardware in the industry. If you notice any discrepancies, feel free to get back to us with photos of your mortise once you are able to remove it and we can go from there.
