Need Replacement Patio Door Rollers

A home owner from Massachusetts says:

I need to replace two rollers on my patio door. The following are the dimensions:

  • 2-7/8" total length
  • 3/4" width
  • 1-3/16" height
  • 1-1/4" wheel
  • 10-32 machine screw on top

Please let me know if you require any additional information or photos.

The wheels are nylon and there are two markings, "970" and "Parlyn". Thanks!

At this time the only roller with the die cast housing like the one in the photos is the 81-129, which has a 1-1/2" diameter wheel. We also carry a steel version of this roller, which is the 81-279 with a 1-1/4" steel wheel. Take a look at both of these wheel to see if you could use" the 81-129 with the larger wheel or the 81-279 with the taller housing.

A home owner from Massachusetts says:
A few follow up questions:

1) Does it matter that the two suggested options have steel wheels and the original wheels are nylon?
2) Is it possible to replace the wheel only on the die cast housing?
3) How does wheel size affect the sliding door? Size up to 1-1/2" or size down to 1-1/8"? Could you adjust the height to effectively offset the difference in wheel size?

Thank you!

Thanks for getting back to us. Let me answer your questions in order:

  1. I personally like to use steel wheels on patio glass doors. I find they last longer in general.
  2. Replacing the wheel itself on a die cast housing is not possible with this type die cast housing. The "axle" looks like it is part of the adjustment arm instead of being a separate part.
  3. As for the wheel size, you would need to see if you have the clearance between the bottom of the door and the track when you lift up the door to remove it. Adjustment can help with this.

Hopefully this information helps.
