Need a new balance coil & shoe

Home Owner from Gaithersburg, Maryland
We purchased this house in 2021 and the windows, I thought, were fairly new. However, when using the tilt function to clean the outside glass, I've broken 4 tilt pins and one balance shoe. I took a picture of the window label with the model number in case it helps find the right replacement part.

Also, one of the tilt pins that broke is still inside the window frame. Any advice on how to get out the broken end so I can replace it? Thanks!

Thanks for reaching out.  When tilting the window in to clean it, if you do not lift the window up a few inches before doing so, it will result in damage like this. To prevent this from happening, I would recommend testing it out before fully tilting the window it. Once you lift it, if you have to use any force to push it open, you likely have not lifted it high enough.

Your pivot bar appears to be part 26-226. Take a look at the diagram below to confirm that this is the right fit for your window.

The metal part at the bottom of the shoe is broken. It seems like that metal part that locks onto the pivot bar could pop out and be replaced, but I can't get it out.

The pivot bar, 3-1/16 looks exactly like what I have. To your advice on tilting the windows, I'll make sure I raise up the window enough. One of the pivot bars broke when I had the lower sash tilted so I could tilt the upper sash for cleaning. I guess the stress was too much on the lower sash pivot bar because it snapped.

We do not have an exact match for the shoe you have pictured, but our 15-177 should work fine as a replacement. They are compatible with the Series 152 Coil Balance Spring. To determine which balance spring you need, check the existing coil spring for a stamped number.

These work a bit differently than your existing assembly because the spring screws into the shoe instead of hooking into it. However, they should work as replacement for your window.

The coil has the stamp J87. Is this really old? Will the coil you recommended work ok?

You'll need to obtain the exact weight of your window and then take that number and divide it by the number of coils in the window.

That should give you the number for the spring strength you'll need to select for the Series 152 Coils.
