Need help identifying proper part

I'm thinking I need the S395. I'm confused about the length. The stamp on the old balance shows 17 but metal to metal these old balances are 18 inches long.

The stamp code corresponds to the height of the visible glass in the window sash, which should be 1" shorter than the balance length for the S395. You'll need to refer to the rest of the stamp code to choose the corresponding strength options on our product page, as long as the S395-18 matches your assembly. Thanks for posting.
