Need new coil spring for my Gorell window

Quick Learner from Wheaton, il
We have Gorell windows. On one lower window, the coil spring on each side seems to have broken. (See photos). It has also slammed down hard a few times causing the right corner to separate. The right bottom corner feels loose. (See photo). I would like to purchase the replacement parts and make the repairs. 1. Could you tell what parts I need to purchase from you? 2. Do you have a video for replacing a Gorell coil spring. 3. Do you have any advice on repairing the separated corner? Thanks!

Hello, thank you for posting,

Please start by reviewing the style and dimensions of the 15-087 housing pivot that is compatible with the Series 180 coil spring along with the 16-024 mounting bracket.

Detail of 15-087

The coil spring should have a number stamped into the metal that indicates the weighted option needed, but if not, please provide the weight of the window sash to move forward.

Please review the installation diagram below.

Unfortunately we cannot assist with the separation of the framing. I apologize for the inconvenience. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hi Lauren,
Sorry for the delay. Guess I am not the "quick learner "that I thought I was.
The window sash weighs about 13 pounds or so.
There is a 7JB stamped into the coil.
There does not seem to be a cutout on the track to remove any parts.
Also, I do not have a track spreader.
Are there any alternative ways to remove the parts question?
If I had the tools, this does not seem difficult. Do you have a suggestion? Should I stop and hire a pro?

No problem!

Please see the S180-07 coil spring to use on each side. This spring sits inside the 15-087 housing. These coils will give you 14 pounds of weight for your 13 pound sash. As long as you are within a pound difference, it should be fine!

I have related the "cutout method" video on the page for your review. This is a less costly option for removing the pivot shoe rather than using the spreader tool.

We try our best to show videos and provide parts that are DIY friendly, but it really comes down to your comfort level if you want to get a professional involved.

Please let me know if you have any questions!
