Need new lock set for old patio doir

Question

This old patio door is the only entrance to the residence. I have this old, outside handle/unusable and without any guts or inside mechanism.
I just need to find any kind of set that can be locked and unlocked from the outside. The door is just two aluminum, hollow vertical panels.

I am somewhat familiar with the old Mayfair handle set. I don't think these have been made for a long time, so an identical match is out of the question. Thankfully it doesn't seem that you mind that too much.

Since you just want any kind that can work in it's place, my suggestion would be to use a surface mount set like our 82-005. These are nice because they have their own self-contained mortise lock, allowing them to work on just about any door. The catch is that you'll need to drill new holes for the handle to mount on the door, and find somewhere on the frame to mount the keeper in such a way that it lines up with it. Look it over and see what you think!

The 82-005 doesn't come with an exterior key lock, but our 82-306 (sold separately) is fully compatible with it.
