Need replacement coil balance for Champion Window

A home owner from Lakewood, CO says:
Hello,

I have a double hung window with Champion branding, and the coil balance on the lower sash recently broke and needs replacing. Not sure how old the window is, it doesn't seem very old but seems to have a different logo than the current Champion logo.

The window sash is 23" tall, and the balance is 1 1/4" wide and 5/8" thick. The coil itself is 1/2" thick.

Thank you!
John

See our 15-177 Pivot Shoe, which uses Series 152 Coil Balances. To know what spring weights to select, look for stamps on the coil springs themselves. If there are none or you're unsure, give me the exact weight of the window sash, and I can work it out for you.

A home owner from Lakewood, CO says:
Looks like the spring is stamped "9J" and the window sash weighs 17.8 lbs. Guessing the 9 lb spring is the correct one?

Thanks!

Bob from SWISCO responded:

Yes, that makes sense. An S152-9 9 pound spring supports 9 pounds of weight. One on each side of the sash equals 18 pounds of total support--being within one pound of the actual sash weight works fine. Let me know if you have any other questions.

A home owner from Lakewood, CO says:
Ok great. So I will plan to order 2 of the 15-177 and 2 9 pound springs so I can replace both sides. Would you recommend any other parts? There are a few suggested items but it looks like these are the only required parts. Also, I assume it is pretty self explanatory how to attach the spring to the shoe?

Thank you for your help!

Bob from SWISCO responded:

Yep, these springs just screw to the shoe, nothing fancy. As for other parts you may need, that depends on what's broken. I recommend doing a once-over of the window to see if anything else is damaged. If so, show it to me and we can work from there!
