Need to replace sssh balances

Handy Person from Florida
The stamp reads 28c and the metal rail is 28” long. I expect the c is a weight rating. I'm in Florida so the plastic parts are becoming brittle and breaking. I unfortunately ordered the wrong ones so returning those. Thanks for your help.

Hello,

With this combination of attachments, you could have either the S378-29, S380-29, or S385-29 channel balance. You’ll need to measure as shown below. The Series 380 has a 1" bottom attachment, and the Series 385 has a 1-3/32" attachment. You'll also need 2830 spring strength options for your replacement balances. Thank you, and let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Mine measure a little under 1" more like 15/16" should I go with the 1" S380?? Thanks

If the shoe is over 7/8" deep, I agree that you most likely have the S380 since the fittings can wear down a bit over time. You could also check another identical balance to confirm the depth.

I have another question: I have a second set that has same end pieces, but the length of the metal chanel is 23" and it is stamped with 22F, a much stronger spring. What do I need to order? Thanks!

If the specifications match the S380-23, you would most likely need 2260 strength options based on your stamp code. To confirm, you can weigh the sash to ensure it falls within the 27-30 pound weight range supported by the S380-23 (2260) balances.
