Need window tensioner replacements

Handy Person from Watervliet, NY 12189
I have 2 windows @ 31 1/2" × 61 3/8" and 1 window @ 30 1/2" × 61 1/2" and need to replace both the left and right side tensioner assembly in each window, shown in the pictures.

Hi there!

Thanks for reaching out to us. Take a look at the 15-177 pivot shoe which uses the Series 152 coil springs. You can check the coil spring band for a stamped weight code.

If you need new coil spring supports, see the 15-143, 15-144, and 15-145. As for the pivot bar, the 26-466 comes to mind. Review the specifications and see if they match what you need for this repair.

The pivot shoe and a pivot bar seem to be accurate. However, the coil is stamped at 10lbs for a window @ 30 1/2 × 61 1/2. What should I order? Also would the coil bushing cap 15-144 and voil support barrel 15-145 work as a replacement for the one shown? If the windows are rated at different weights what should I order? Does a stamp @ 10 mean order 9lb coil? Does a stamp @ 6 mean order 8lb coil? Etc.

The Series 152 doesn't have a 10-pound coil spring but you could use two S152-5 5-pound coils on each side. That would total 20 pounds of overall support for the window sash.

If the coil spring is stamped with the number 10, that means it's rated for 10 pounds. If it's stamped with the number 6, that means it's rated for 6 pounds. The number represents the rated weight for the coil.

The 15-144 bushing cap and 15-145 support barrel can replace your old coil support but you will also need the 15-143 bushing. These parts will "sandwich" each coil spring.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hi. I recently purchased the 5lb coils which does not support the window. However, I misread the recent message and realized I would need 2-5lb coils on each side. However the window is a single coil. How can I use 2 coil balances?

You would just need to use additional coil supports for the window, such as the 15-143 bushing, 15-144 busing cap, and 15-145 support barrel. These parts "sandwich" around each coil spring. Note that you will have to drill a new hole to accommodate the new support. However, I should mention that it will be a little tricky to install the second spring/support inside the window cut out.
