New channel balances

Question

My balance is 1/2 inch wide and 20 7/8 long (metal only). I can't tell what the top and bottom attachments are.

The top is either 19-002 or 19-005. Not sure how to tell.

The bottom is either 15-001, 15-002, 15-004 or 15-005. Again not sure how to tell. It says to measure how deep the bottom shoe is but I'm not sure which dimension is depth.

Also, when replacing one broken balance, is it recommended to replace the other at the same time. For better balance?

Thanks for posting! It looks like you have either the S380-21 with a 1" shoe or the S385-21 with a 1-3/32" shoe. The metal channel of these balances is 21". So, I would be sure to double check the length of your metal channel to confirm that it is 21". You'll need to select the 2040 stamp.

The depth measurement refers to the front to back measurement of the bottom shoe. To determine which series is needed for your window, look over the dimensions from the diagram below to confirm the depth of your bottom shoe. Let me know if it does not match either measurement.

It is recommended to replace both balances so that the older balance doesn't cause the newer one to wear out faster than it should.
