Older Style - early 1990's - Arcadia sliding glass door handle and latch

Home Owner from Rancho Mirage, CA

Recently it seems that the "spring" inside the latch wasn't working / missing as the latch moves up and down now with almost no effort.

I took the handle apart and then found two parts on the floor that I suspect dropped out when I took it apart. There are two photos - one showing the latch assembly itself (door inside front) and the other the backside of the latch assembly. The two parts I found on the floor are to the right in both photos. There is a small round black disc - suspect it is made of rubber as it is now a bit hard and perhaps a bit broken down. The second part is a small metal wire that has several specific bends - wondering of this is the "spring" thing that prevents the latch from movng up an down almost effortlessly.

Hopin you can help tell me how to put either or both of these pieces back into the latch assembly to make it work properly (some effort needed to move the latch up and down). Alternatively do you have parts to repair the latch assembly?

Thanks!

James

Hi James, thank you for posting,

Unfortunately we have not encountered this specific type of handle set before so we cannot inform how or where the small pieces fit back in.

If you are interested in replacing the full handle set, the best we can provide is the 82-005 surface mounted style. It has a different design, but should still work in the same way and has a 4-15/16" installation hole spacing. Please review to see what you think and if you have any additional questions!
