Part Identification and Install Help

Quick Learner from 98296

The locking mechanism shown on the left failed. I couldn't find any part numbers on it so I made my best guess and purchased the Swisco product on the right (82-265). After installing it doesn't quite work with the lock mounted on the door. (Second picture). It either doesn't press in the the safety button or the locks don't latch into the holes. Basically, I cant turn the lock when I try to test it.

Do I have the wrong lock or should I replace the mounted piece on the door frame?

Thanks!

Just realized it is impossible to tell the orientation on the picture. The lock with the silver clasps is the old lock, the gold clasps is the new lock.

The 82-265 was definitely the best part for the job. If the hooks aren't aligning with the keeper, then you have two options.

First, adjust the keepers on the new 82-265. This can be done by turning the two tiny screws next to each hook. This will extend or retract the hooks (depending on which way you turn them). This works 90% of the time.

If not, then you should consider a new keeper like our 82-249. This will definitely work with the 82-265 mortise.

Thanks for the help Tom! Sorry for the delay in responding. Adjusting the hooks did help and it was good to know how to do that. I got it to work but the force of closing the door is moving the frame that holds hooks just enough to create a misalignment. I will order a new keeper.
