Hello,

I can't be sure with the coil balance still installed but I would recommend starting by removing your assembly from the window to compare to the S161-08. We'll include the dimensions from our product page below. Take a look and see what you think. Thank you!

Yes I would say the 161-8 would work but is it possible to change the coil spring with the 180-8 the only question I have is what is holding the spring on the top

Yes, the S161-08 is used with the 15/32" wide S180-8 coil spring. We also offer the 16-031 mounting bracket, which installs above the coil balance to attach the coil springs.
