Patio sliding door lock

Quick Learner from SC
Hello, my patio door lock is broken. A friend took the lock to help me get another one from the store, but lost it. Now I need to get a whole set and can't find it.

I would appreciate it if you could help me finding the right set.

Thank you.

You should be able to replace this keyed handle set with our 82-086. Take a look and see what you think.

Thank you for your reply. Do I need a mortise? That is what a friend misplaced and I couldn't send a picture of it. I want to make sure I have everything before I order.

Again, thank you for your help!

Here is a picture of the wholes on the door. The wholes from the model 82-086 look different. Also, do I need a mortise? I lost the previous one.

I hope it helps.

Thank you.

The holes on the door look typical of a 3-15/16" handle set, like the 82-086. Is there any reason in particular you think they wouldn't work?

Can you show us the hole in the door where the mortise lock would go? There's a few different types that work with this style handle set, so seeing the hole might help us narrow it down.

It had a mortise before, if new models do not need one, I'll just get the handle. I just wanted to make sure before I order.

Thanks for your help.

This is a problem. That keeper should work with a mortise lock like our 82-218; I'm fairly sure this is what you had. However, it looks like a plate is missing that held the mortise lock in place. We don't have a replacement for that. You could try finding a way to have a replacement for that plate made, if you're up for it. Otherwise, you might want to consider scrapping this whole setup and trying to adapt a surface-mount handle set like the 82-005 to the door. This handle set has the mortise lock built into its body. You would need to drill holes to install it, but it may be the best option.

I can see something inside, I tried to capture it in the picture, not sure if you can see it or no.

It's possible the housing has fallen down into the door. You might be able to extract it or have a pro attempt this; otherwise, I think the surface mount option like the 82-005 may prove to be your best bet.
