I just ordered 4 shoes to replace the 1" channel shoe from your web site but as you can see from the profile the area above the shoe on the existing black patriot window lock is only 3/8" (approx) and the swisco version is approximately 1/2" so I can't get the hook at the top to seat back on the channel balance. Also the backs are slightly different. can you identify the proper part or tell me if I can modify this one to fit? The channel balances themselves have only the markings 28C on them. Hope this helps. The windows have no identifying marks on the glass like most windows do.

Hello there. I am afraid our 15-194 T-lock balance shoe will not fit in your old channel balance. You will need to replace your old balances with our Series 795 and place the 15-194 as the attachment. The open cam refers to the metal center cam where there is a hole through it. The one you show has a closed cam.

Thanks for the reply. Should I assume that it is best to replace the channel balance on both sides? Also are any additional items required to change the balance shoe to the 15-194 such as drilling out the old rivet and installing a new one? If so what additional items are required?

It's best to replace both channel balances at the same time. As far as swapping the shoe, no real installation is required. Our creative department just recently put out this video showing how to do it:
