Pivot Shoe Replacement

Quick Learner from Ohio
Hi,

I am looking to replace my windows pivot cam shoe due to the cam breaking. Can you please tell me which cam would work? From the looks of it, it looks like the 15-177 would work as a replacement. Please confirm. Thank you.

Thanks for writing in. This looks like more like a 15-175 to me. Go over the dimensions and see if you agree.

I ordered the 15-177 by mistake. Do you think the 15-177 will still work?

Unfortunately I don't think the 15-177 will work. Now, the width and thickness is the same, which are the most critical dimensions with pivot shoes, so I can't rule it out completely. But they're still different enough in configuration that I don't think it will reliably work. The 15-175 is the better choice.

Lastly, can the metal pivot shoes themselves be removed out of the plastic housing? If so I will take them out and put them into my old housings.

It's certainly possible that might work, though I'm not 100% certain. You are certain welcome to try, and if that's the only part in your old shoes that needed to be replaced, that might work out for you. Otherwise, go for the 15-175. Let me know how you make out.
