Pivot show is broken

Question

The pivot shoe is broken in a number of my tilted windows... However, I can't figure out how it's attached to the square balance mechanism. I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks for posting! The shoe you have here is the 15-177 Coil Balance Shoe. The plastic piece you are referring to is the coil balance cover but it does not attached directly to the shoe, it is simply used as a support for the coil spring, which is secured to the shoe by inserting it into either of the slots on the top of the shoe and secured using the 33-072 screw.

The coil balance compatible with this shoe is the Series 152 Coil Balance. To determine which of these is the right replacement for your assembly, you'll need to remove the coil and look for any stamps/markings. If there aren't any, you'll need to obtain the exact weight of the sash and divide that by the total number of coils in the window.

To replace the cover, you'll need the 15-143 Coil Bushing, 15-144 Coil Bushing Cap, and the 15-145 Coil Barrel Support.
