Please suggest channel balance

A home owner from SF Bay Area says:
Hi,

Sorry for the poor quality photos.
Hope there is enough there for an expert to figure out.
The metal length is 28 inches.
Unfortunately, didn't measure the width.

Let me know if this is not enough info.

Regards.

Thanks for writing in. I am confident we can replace this channel balance, but I'm afraid I need clearer pictures of the bottom nylon fitting to confirm what you're working with--specifically, I need to see if it has 'wings', or those tabs on the side that your balance's top fitting has. Also, is there any stamp code on the metal channel? If so, please show us. From there we'll do our best to ID what you need.

Hi,

Hopefully these photos will help in identifying the channel balance clearly.
There are numbers on the metal channel. I have posted a photo with those as well.
Let me know if this is enough.

Regards.

Thanks for getting back to me. This appears to be either a Series 380 or Series 385 Channel Balance. The difference between these two balances is the depth of the bottom nylon shoe, or the 'heel-to-toe' measurement. The picture below illustrates the difference. Compare both Series with your old balance to see which matches what you need.

Confirm the metal channel length, not including the nylon fittings. For a balance stamped 28-3, normally the length would be 29". Let me know if that's not the case. If it is, however, see either our S380-29 or S385-29. In either case you'd need a stamp option of 2830.

Thanks for the detailed instructions.

The nylon shoe depth is 1 inch and the length of the metal part is indeed 29 inch.

So does that mean we are looking at S380-29?

Thanks again.

Correct, sounds like you need the S380-29 with a stamp option of 2830. Let me know if you have further questions.
