Plygem tilt window has significant airflow problem

Home Owner from Millsboro, DE

Hello,

Forgive me as I am a novice homeowner but hopefully you can solve my problem. My tilt windows allow significant draft of air into my house through the channel balance so I have placed paper towels to block the airflow somewhat per pics. A contractor told me recently he thinks there may have been a piece that goes maybe on top of the balance that was removed in order to accomplish installation then erroneously discarded. Is there a part or cap or even foam white in color that should be with this balance? (Plygem manufacturer) If not do you have a part that could solve this problem? I attached the only label on the window which is 3 years old.

Many thanks for your time, expertise and patience with me. Kevin

Hello,

Unfortunately, we do not carry any weatherstripping that would attach to the top of your balance assembly. With that being said, I would recommend checking the seals, most likely wool pile, on the sides of your window sash. These are the seals that are generally responsible for stopping drafts.

See the related videos that explain the process of removing the original wool pile, as well as the dimensions needed to compare to our inventory here. Thank you.
