Question about my Channel Balance

Quick Learner from United States
I'd like to get a recommendation on which channel balance to purchase. This one is 29 inches long and has a 28 D stamped on the front. It also appears that there is a C stamped over the D - maybe. Most of ours have the string/rope broken, so I would prefer something that will last longer than what these did, which was only a few years.

Thanks for posting. Based on the dimensions and nylon attachments, you should take a look at either our S380-29 or S385-29 Channel Balances. The only difference between these two Series is the 'depth' of the bottom nylon shoe. With the Series 380 the depth of this nylon shoe is 1", whereas with the Series 385 it is 1-3/32". From your pictures it looks like your bottom shoe might be closer to the Series 380, but it is hard to say for sure from pictures. It's best to confirm this for yourself to see what is best.

As far as the stamp, this is a little trickier.  28D would conform to our stamp option of 2840, which is for a window sash weight range of 23 through 28 lbs. If, however, a 'C' was placed over the D, this leaves some room for doubt, as 28C conforms to our stamp option 2830, for a window sash weight range of 16 through 23 lbs. You could send us a picture of the stamp for us to assess; but honestly the safest thing to do would be to precisely weigh your window sash and see what weight range it falls into. Then you will know what stamp option to select. Let us know what you think!
