I purchased 82-265 to replace a broken mortise lock in my house and now the door will lock but is difficult to unlock (have to jostle the door to get it unlocked) and the door will come open while locked if I give it a good pull. I measured the keeper on my door and its very close (though not exact) to 82-249.
Does this sound like a problem that 82-249 would fix?
Replaced lock. Not working quite right

Maybe I can help. I believe if you have not replaced the keeper yet, then yes, you should definitely do so. These mortise type double hook locks have changed in recent years. Some had hooks that hooked up and down and the newer locks like the 82-265 hooks inward. I would try the 82-249 keeper to see if that clears things up.
