Replacement Channel Balance and Sash Guide

Handy Person from Chandler, AZ
I need to possibly replace a few channel balances in my windows. The sash guides have broken and the channel balances become non-functional. I don't know whether just to replace the sash guides or the channel balances or both.

Can you recommend what is needed? Attached are pictures of the broken sash guide and the top and bottom of the 27" channel balance. Stamp: 27 4 BSI

How will I know if the channel balance needs to be replaced or just the sash guide or both?

The window is from Pacific Window Corporation if that helps.

Thank you for submitting your photos.

Take a look at the Series 390-28 Channel Balance. Please be sure you have accurately measured the length of the channel portion of your balance. Get that measurement and report back to us just to make sure.

The metal clip is the Swisco 16-002 Take Out Clip.

We are still working on researching the the sash guide and will post an update as soon as more information becomes available.

If the top sash guide is broken, they will obviously need to be replaced. To check your balance, remove it from the track, inspect it for broken strings or spring. To check if the tension is good, use a flat tip screwdriver (or pliers) and hook the bottom clip and pull on it to see if it has any tension.

You are correct. It is a 28" channel balance. I will be checking the balances as you have instructed.

In the meantime, is there additional information that you will need for the sash guides such as the dimensions? Or will the pictures attached suffice?

I believe the pictures will suffice.

I'll let you know if I need any measurements.

Any luck finding the correct replacement sash guides for my Pacific Windows Corporation windows?

The sash guide is fairly identical to 18-036. However, mine is 11/16" wide at the bottom, 1" wide at the top, and 7/16" from the top to the screw hole. The rest of the dimensions are correct.

Is there an ETA on when you might find out? I need to have them replaced before I close on my house July 28.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Any updates on this? Are there other vendors who provide sash guides?

Sorry, but we have been unable to locate a source at this time.

I will continue to research the top sash guide and will post an update if more information becomes available.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
