This looks a lot like our 26-148, though I'm not sure if that string is an important aspect of this part's function. Could the 26-148 work for you? Also, how do the dimensions match up?

Hi back that part that you mention does not match for what I am searching for tha current demencions are: 2.7/8"L X1/2

Oh, wow, I think I recognize this. You have a very old part that I do not believe is available anymore. The only possible solution we have is using our 26-387 surface-mounted vent latch. See the video below for instructions on how it works. I cannot guarantee that it will work for you, but we do not have anything else that may work. I am sorry we cannot offer a better solution.
