Replacement of broken Primary Casement Sash Locks on previously installed Loewen windows.

Home Owner from Washington, DC 20016

Thanks for listening.

I recently ordered several replacement parts. I'm trying to replace broken Primary Casement Sash Locks on several previously installed Loewen windows. The fist photograph shows the new lock installed and the original keeper. The problem is the new lock will not engage the old keeper, so the window will not close. The second photo shows the original lock, and the third photo shows the new (replacement) lock. The fourth photo compares the two locks. It appears that the white protrusion on the original (broken) lock is much smaller than its black counterpart of the new lock. I've tried to highlight the difference with the blue arrows. Thus, the original keeper butts against the replacement lock and the two parts cannot engage. Do I need to order new replacement keepers? Any suggestions? Thanks much. (I can handle a screwdriver, perhaps after applying some WD40.)

Thanks for reaching out! I'm sorry to hear your purchase did not work out for you but I believe we are able to provide you with a suitable replacement for your repairs. The 38-144 Primary Casement Sash Lock is compatible with the 38-276 and the 38-277 Casement Sash Keeper. It does look fairly similar to your existing keeper but take a look over the dimensions and design to see if it might be a better fit.
