Replacement parts

Question

My single hung window needs the balance springs replaced. The metal portion measures 18". The stamp says 17-4 KX CMC 11. I do not know the weight of the sash and I do not know how to remove them from the window panes. I was hoping the 17-4 would be equivalent to the 18" Series 385 Channel Balance 1740?

Thanks for posting. This looks like either the S380-18 or S385-18. The only difference between these two balances is the 'depth' of the bottom nylon shoe, so compare both with your old hardware to see which matches best. You are right, 17-4 conforms to our stamp option of 1740.
