Replacement window springs UB 28C marking on springs. 28" length channel

A quick learner from Pinellas Park Florida says:
The only markings I have are on the outside of the channel UB 28C. The spring dimension is 14" body length x 1/2" diameter

Hello!

We'd be happy to help but we'll need you to remove an undamaged balance with the end fittings intact to compare to our inventory.

Thank you!

Thanks for the additional pictures!

With this combination of fittings, you could have either an S380-29 or S385-29 channel balance. You’ll need to measure as shown below. The Series 380 has a 1" bottom fitting, and the Series 385 has a 1-3/32" fitting. A stamp of 28C usually corresponds to our 2830 option, but you can always weigh your sash on a scale to confirm.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Mine measures just shy of 1", more like 15/16". Would the 1" end fitting work in this case?

Emily from SWISCO responded:

It's possible that you might need balances with our 15-029 shoe attached. This has a depth of 7/8". If this is indeed the case, this is not a stock item but we can provide it for you via custom order.

It's also possible that your shoe may have worn down over time. Can you confirm the exact depth of your bottom shoe? You may want to check the balance on the other side of the window or from an identical window to be certain.

Let me know what you find and we can work from there.

A quick learner from Pinellas Park Florida says:
I ended up ordering the 1" bottom shoe, thinking that perhaps it has worn like you said.

Gotcha! If it's over 7/8", your shoe has most likely just worn down. Let me know how everything works out and good luck with your repair!
