broken Coil Balance spring

Question

The coil balance spring on one side of the window separated from the pivot shoe. The Window was purchased from Homedepot about 9 years ago. It looks to be an American Craftsman 50 series window. There is a number 9 on the pivot shoe as shown in the uploaded pictures. (1) Do you have the replacement parts for this window? (2) One side is bad. Should both sides be replaced? (3) should all of the parts be replaced (Springs, Pivots, etc.)? Please let us know.

Forgot to add that the window weight is approximately 18 pounds Thank you.

Your photos resemble the 15-087 housing pivot, which uses the Series 180 coil springs. Your nine stamp and sash weight indicate that you can use one S180-9 coil on each side. Take a look and compare the specifications below and the accessories related on our product pages to yours. Also, note that you generally only need to replace the damaged parts for these types of balances but if they are older, you may want to replace the coils on both sides to ensure that the sash is evenly supported.
