Replacing lock

I believe I can, yes. See our 82-080 handle set and 82-268B mortise lock. I'm very confident that the handle set will work for you, though you may want to remove your mortise from the door before you buy the 82-268B just to be sure everything matches up. It is an educated guess on my part.

I think I have to replace the mortise lock mechanism in a 17-year-old Milgard patio sliding door. How do I remove the mortise from the door?

I'm not sure what door you have, but assuming it's the same style as the one shown by the customer who started this thread last month then you will need to remove the side cap that runs the length of the door. It should just snap on and off. Once that's off, you can access the screws holding the mortise in the door.
